Which all makes the ageing Mitsubishi ASX difficult to recommend ahead of newer alternatives, even considering its generous five-year warranty and Mitsubishi’s sterling reliability record. Truth be told, there are numerous small SUVs that are more enjoyable to drive, better for rear passengers and have far more attractive cabins.
I've always loved Mitsubishi for it's simplicity and reliability. I do most maintenance by myself that includes oil changes at 5k kms, coolant change, AT fluid, Transfer case and diff fluid change, sparkplugs, brake rotors and pads etc. The outlander Sport engines come with either 4B 11 2L or 4B 12 2.4L. Solid engines that haven't been changed
The diesel engines aren’t much better. A 114bhp 1.8 has a figure of 56.5mpg and £140 road tax while the 147bhp version of the same engine drops down to 51.4mpg and cost £155 in tax. The four Yea! but if you are after a SUV, buy a older diesel version. The new petrol cars are big slow cars with no 4wd . My 2.3 diesel ain't fast but makes cool turbo noise whilst slowly accelerating. You do get 360nm of torque at 1500rpm which seems enough to tow a tonne of boat and with roof racks it's pretty practical. The ASX is known as a reliable car that is cheap to buy and cheap to run.
