They share dimensions but the ecoboost uses direct injection and much stronger internals among other things. Better off picking up a complete turbo kit for the duratec. 07 Focus ST-basic bolt ons (daily commuter) 08 Fusion 2.3L-rear baby seat install (wife's daily)
In comparison the base V6 gets a claimed 14.4 L/100km city, 10.4 highway and 12.6 combined with 4WD, whereas the 3.5 Ecoboost’s mileage is still pretty decent for an engine that makes 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque at just 14.9 city, 10.7 highway and 13.0 combined. On that note you’ll need to upgrade to Sport or Platinum trims to get.
The ratings in this review are based on our full test of the 2016 Ford Explorer Sport (3.5L turbo V6; AWD; 6-speed automatic). On top of that, its EcoBoost V6 is plenty powerful, though fuel

The Ford Explorer has four different engines available: 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost: 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque; 3.3L V6 Hybrid: 318 hp and 322 lb-ft of torque; 3.0L V6 EcoBoost: 365 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque; 3.0L V6 EcoBoost ST: 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque; While the Jeep Grand Cherokee also has four engines available: 3.6L V6 Pentastar: 295 hp
I was eager to test out this Explorer’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. What I experienced was exactly how I hoped it would be. With 365hp and 475Nm under the hood, the Explorer accelerates with the urgency of a vehicle half its size. It’s smooth from the get-go, then the twin turbos kick in and leave smaller cars in the dust. Job well done, Ford.2.7 Ecoboost F-150 will probably be more fun, but the RAM 3.6 will have less things that could go wrong (plus the superior 8-speed ZF auto and coil-rear suspension) Tacoma with the 3.5L. If you're looking at half tons with small motors you would probably be fine with a quarter ton. They're pretty bullet proof.
The EcoBoost 2.7: comes with 325 horsepower and 375lb. ft in torque giving a fuel economy of about 23 MPG whereas The EcoBoost 3.5: comes with 365 horsepower and 400lb. ft torque with a fuel efficiency of around 20 MPG The 3.5 has the advantage in almost all respects but falls short when it comes to fuel economy.
